How the Terius wallet is encrypted

The wallet file does not open outside Terius, and it does not open without your password. Keys stay on the device. Terius cannot move or recover the funds.

Three layers

The file is sealed to the app, then opened by your password. The passphrase is the third layer: it reveals a separate wallet in the same file.

There is no account on a Terius server that holds the coins. Losing both the file and the seed phrase means nobody can restore the funds.

The password seals the file

The password encrypts the wallet file on this device. It is not sent anywhere. A forgotten password cannot be reset.

Keys stay on the device

The seed and the keys are decrypted only while the wallet is unlocked. They are not stored on a server.

Unique derivation

On the password screen, unique derivation is on by default. The app recommends leaving it on. It does not change the seed phrase you write down.
